The 150th Victoria Highland Games & Celtic Festival is a great weekend for the entire family to celebrate Scottish culture.

Saturday events include kilted mile athletics, tug of war competition, haggis hurling competition, sheep dog herding competition, Victoria International Heavy Events Challenge, Amateur B & Novice heavy event competition, pipe band performances, falconry & swordfighting demonstrations, cultural & heritage presentations, music & entertainment activities.

Free large childrens entertainment area.

Scottish & Celtic vendor (food & goods) along with two beer gardens & a single malt whisky tasting school.

Traditional Scottish Games; great entertainment activities & hospitality continue on Sunday!

The Boulders Climbing Gym in Central Saanich will play host to the top climbers in the country over the Victoria Day long weekend, during the 2013 Canadian National Climbing Championships.

The Canadian championships will feature the best youth climbers in the country, as well as a number from the United States, competing in a range of age categories in two disciplines: speed climbing and difficulty climbing.

Although Emily Carr described herself as an isolated little old woman on the edge of nowhere, her work has a universal appeal. With this exhibition, the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria will become the premiere destination on Vancouver Island to visit and learn about Emily Carr through her paintings. On the Edge of Nowhere will include a historical survey of Carr's artistic career, featuring pieces in all the media & styles she explored & perfected. It will also focus on Carr's influences & inspirations, such as European modern art, members of the Group of Seven artists, First Nations artists and Carr's spirituality.

This is Victoria's largest parade event; complete with marching bands, floats, clowns & more. If you wish to watch the whole parade it will take at least 3 hours to pass by, so come prepared - bring a blanket or a folding chair, drinks & snacks to keep you comfortable. Don't forget an extra jacket if it is cool, & an umbrella if it is raining or hats & sunscreen if it is sunny! The parade starts from Mayfair Mall at 9:00 am & proceeds along Douglas Street, finishing at the intersection of Douglas & Humboldt in the downtown core.
