While the city of Vancouver itself isn't known to amass much in the way of snowfall, nearby mountains boast ample heaps of fresh powder in the winter. Skiing, snowboarding, cross-country and snowshoeing are all popular here.

Within an hour from Vancouver's downtown core, winter sport enthusiasts can explore any one of three spectacular snowy mountain settings: Mount Seymour, Grouse Mountain and Cypress Mountain.

Vancouver's trio of local mountains provides the convenience of not having to go far from the city to experience winter action. When Vancouver hosted the world for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, this local mountain chain came under the global spotlight.
