Fishing

Victoria is a fishing hotspot that offers anglers easy access to the salmon-rich waters of the Pacific Ocean as well as the sheltered waterways of Georgia Strait and the Gulf Islands.
Salmon fishing in Victoria is a year-round activity. The summer months are the time to fish in the salmon and halibut-filled waters off Vancouver Island’s west coast, while in the winter, fishing is best not too far from the city itself.
Victoria and its surrounding communities of Sidney, Sooke and Port Renfrew offer anglers of all skill levels an impressive choice of fishing opportunities – often only minutes from the dock.
Access direct, daily ferry service from both mainland British Columbia and Port Angeles in the United States.

- Victoria Inner Harbour: Only minutes from most downtown hotels and attractions, many charter boats operate from the inner harbour. Half-day or full day fishing charters are available.
- Oak Bay Marina/Pedder Bay Marina: These two marinas offer charters, boat rentals and other amenities. Oak Bay is close to downtown, while Pedder Bay is approximately a 40-minute drive from Victoria and close to prime fishing grounds. RV and camping sites are available at Pedder Bay.
- Sidney: This charming, seaside community is a 30-minute drive north of Victoria and is an ideal launching point for fishing trips to the Gulf Islands and Saanich Inlet. Sidney is home to many charter operators and marinas, and the town’s large fishing pier is an ideal spot for a family fishing adventure.

Choose a spot, cast a line and enjoy unobstructed views of Juan de Fuca Strait, the Sooke Hills and Olympic Mountains.
