Both the lower Mamquam and lower Cheakamus Rivers generally offer mild conditions that suit novice rafters.
For more advanced rafters, the locals recommend the whitewater excitement of the Upper Elaho, Squamish, and Ashlu Rivers. Difficulty ratings range from Class II to Class IV. Paddle through holes, fast water, standing waves, and rapids like the famous "Devil's Elbow" stretch.

One unique opportunity for bird watching fans is taking an "Eagle Safari" float down the Squamish River between November and February to view the thousands of bald eagles that congregate in Brackendale Eagles Provincial Park.
Inquire at the Squamish Adventure Centre (38551 Loggers Lane) off Highway 99 about booking a river rafting expedition. Some notable local tour suppliers include Sunwolf Outdoor Centre and Canadian Outback Adventures. River rafting trips can range in length between a couple of hours and a full day.
