Hot Springs

After a day of hiking or skiing, it's hard to beat a leisurely soak in the pools of one of the local mineral hot springs.
These miracles of nature occur frequently in British Columbia, especially in the area to the south and east of Revelstoke.
Halcyon Hot Springs
One of the best in the province is Halcyon Hot Springs. Enjoyed in its natural state since ancient times, this mineral spring has been developed in one form or another for more than 100 years. The current facility, which opened in the late 1990s, employs modern filtration and treatment technology to produce crystal clear, odourless water for the resort's three outdoor pools. The temperatures of the pools are hot, very hot, and extremely cold!

Overlooking the northern section of the Arrow Lakes, the resort offers a variety of accommodation, including a recreational vehicle park, modest cabins and more luxurious cottages. The Kingfisher Restaurant, in the main lodge, serves up high-quality, sensibly priced meals.
Halcyon Hot Springs Village & Spa is open year-round, and is located 68km/42mi south of the TransCanada Highway on Highway 23. Note that the journey from Revelstoke involves a (free) ferry ride across the Arrow Lake, which does not operate on a 24-hour schedule.
Other undeveloped hot springs are located in the area south of Halcyon. Finding these locations can be challenging. Check with the Revelstoke Visitor Centre for directions.
Canyon Hot Springs
Beside the TransCanada Highway, about halfway between Revelstoke and Glacier National Park, the signage at Canyon Hot Springs encourages weary drivers to pull over and take a break. The resort features a hot pool and a larger, warm swimming pool. Incredibly, hot water is piped to the pools from a spring located 3km/2mi away. Overnight accommodation consists of a variety of cabins and a large camping and recreational vehicle park.
Canyon Hot Springs, which closes during the winter months, is located 35km/22mi east of Revelstoke.
