A surprisingly sophisticated experience awaits Prince George visitors who enjoy fine music, dance and theatre. The Prince George Symphony Orchestra (PGSO) actively participates in many local events throughout the year.
Pops in the Park is a fall concert held in Fort George Park every year. The orchestra plays a wide range of musical pieces from current movie numbers, such as Pirates of the Caribbean, to classical music or songs by the Beach Boys, for example.
PGSO also performs in conjunction with local theatre presentations such as the Phantom of the Opera, and brings in other famous musicians to play with the orchestra. Occasionally, the orchestra even puts on free performances and seasonal events. Check in at the Prince George Visitor Centre for more information about its schedule.
Live Music and Festivals
Prince George hosts a number of live music concerts and festivals each year. The Prince George Folk Festival has been traditionally held each summer. Organizers renamed the event the Cold Snap Music Festival, which, true to its name, is held in the winter.
