Nelson Accommodations
Downtown Nelson hotel, Tourism BC photo
Catering to a wide range of visitors, Nelson's accommodation options span everything from a bunk in a backpacker hostel to a king-sized and luxurious waterfront suite. There are several quality hotels including the Best Western Baker Street Inn and the Prestige Lakeview Inn in and around the downtown core.
The Prestige Lakeside Resort & Convention Centre, is resort hotel on the lake that offers waterfront-facing rooms, and has a pool, spa, restaurant and café. Less expensive motels can be found on the outskirts of town.
The Hume Hotel
The centrepiece of Nelson's accommodation is the venerable Hume Hotel, which has been standing on the corner of Ward and Vernon Streets for more than a century. Named for its original owner, J. Fred Hume, the first mayor of Nelson, this four-storey hotel is a popular meeting place, with the Library Lounge offering perhaps the most comfortable atmosphere in town. Since the Hume also houses a busy pub and a popular nightclub on its lower levels, try for a room on one of the upper floors.
