Skiing & Snowboarding

Mount Washington Alpine Resort on Vancouver Island has all the essential elements for an ultimate downhill skiing or snowboarding experience.
First, there's no need for a snow machine, as an average of 10.5m/35ft falls annually, creating the deepest snow pack in BC. Second, winter temperatures remain relatively mild, averaging around -2°C/28°F and above. Finally, Mount Washington offers a panoramic view of some British Columbia must-sees: Vancouver Island, the Pacific Ocean and the Coast Mountains.
Of course, these features are also a draw for visitors interested in cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.
Glades and Night-Skiing
At Mount Washington, treed terrain offer thrills for everyone from beginners to advanced skiers and snowboarders. Beginners make tracks in Goodtime Glades, while daredevils love the gladed south side of the mountain.

Beginners can enjoy night-skiing via four new Magic Carpet lifts on the illuminated Easy Acres. Intermediate and advanced skiers and riders prefer the popular Coaster run and the Stomping Ground Terrain Park. The Whisky Jack Chair accesses both night-lit sites.
Boomerang Chair
Catch a lift on the 4-passenger Boomerang Chair, Canada's first over-and-back chairlift – that is, it extends up one vertical face of the mountain and down the other. With a capacity of 1,200 passengers per hour, it accesses Mount Washington's natural backside terrain known as the Outback. The Outback scores for black diamond and double black diamond challenge. Back runs cover 162ha/400ac of bowls, glades, and tree-skiing terrain with big steeps and drops.
Terrain Parks
Mount Washington offers two terrain parks: Easy Rider for beginners and Stomping Ground for experts only. Stomping Ground comes through with formidable hits, step-up jumps, gap jumps, rails, rollers, and wall rides. It is home to numerous competitive events which include Rail Jams, Big Air comps, and Slopestyles.
Lessons
The Mount Washington Learning Centre offers a full slate of skiing and snowboarding programs and lessons for all ages and abilities. Children’s and teens lessons can be as short as one day or as long as 12 weeks. The new Learn to Turn program and daily Discover Skiing packages are ideal for beginners. Adults can take advantage of alpine, snowboard and telemark lessons and qualify to become certified instructors. Avalanche skill training is also available for those interested in backcountry skiing.
Equipment Rentals
The Mount Washington Learning Centre offers a wide range of snowboards, skis and backcountry equipment. The knowledgeable staff matches equipment to abilities, fine-tunes bindings, waxes according to conditions, and provides seasoned advice.

The 2010-11 season brought us the most snow in resort history, what a winter! To celebrate, we've injected 3 million dollars into redeveloping our entire learning area, now called Easy Acres. Easy Acres will be one of the easiest places to slide on snow & one of the best places to learn to turn!
Easy Acres features 4 new Magic Carpets, which are just like moveable walkways you would see at an airport. Our Magic Carpets will be the longest in North America & feature covered canopies to protect you from the elements.
