Getting on and off Mayne Island is easy with BC Ferries or Seair Seaplanes.
Today, the BC Ferries schedule is more or less encoded into the memory banks of islanders. Join the locals at the Sunny Mayne Bakery Café and ask for tips on how best to work the transportation system.
Car Travel
Car, bike, or foot are the best options when travelling on Mayne itself. While there is no public transit or taxi service on the island, the community initiated a car stop program that sees friendly locals carpooling at 25 designated spots around the island. Car rentals are not available on the island, but are found at most mainland communities near ferries terminals.

BC Ferries
BC Ferries has plenty of options – 45 per week, in fact – when sailing to Mayne's Village Bay via the Swartz Bay terminal south of Victoria on Vancouver Island. Some are direct routes while others make stops at Galiano, Pender and/or Saturna islands. Important note: Passengers pay for a return fare and no ticket or payment is required when returning from Village Bay.
Travellers from the BC mainland can catch morning ferries seven days a week from Tsawwassen. The passage to Mayne takes 90 minutes and includes a stop on Galiano. If those times don't work, then visitors can opt to sail via Swartz Bay. Be sure to ask for a thoroughfare ticket to Mayne when checking in at the Tsawwassen terminal.
When travelling home, pick up a date-stamped voucher on board the ferry (either from a dispensing machine, snack bar or crew member) and use it for a reduced throughfare ticket on Swartz Bay travel to Tsawwassen. Mayne passengers can also return to Tsawwassen directly, again after a brief stopover on Galiano.
Air Travel
Exciting 20-minute Seair Seaplanes flights skim to a halt twice daily at the Miners Bay wharf seven-days-per-week year round. Park for free for up to five days at either terminal.
