Farms and markets have been a part of rural British Columbia life for more than 100 years. Whether it’s the Fraser Valley, Thompson Okanagan region, or Vancouver Island, many farms welcome visitors for tours and demonstrations. Purchase fresh fruit and produce, just-collected free-range eggs, delicious cheese and milk, and much more.

Touring some of BC's best farms can provide a rather tasty education. It’s a chance to learn about organic farming and other sustainable farming practices – and taste a few samples! The Vancouver, Coast & Mountains region has self-guided Circle Farm Tours to follow.

British Columbia also hosts farmers markets in many communities. Most farmers markets take place on weekends from spring through fall, but some places also have winter markets. Markets enable shoppers to meet the farmers and artisans who grew, raised, caught or produced the food for sale. Enjoy this tempting opportunity to taste a bounty of farm-fresh local foods and to browse and buy locally made arts and crafts.
