Eva Lake Pilgrimage - Revelstoke

Mount Revelstoke Summit Area
Revelstoke, British Columbia
V0E 2S0
Websitehttp://pc.gc.ca/revelstoke
Toll-free
Phone250-837-7500

Saturday, August 16, 2014

Follow in the footsteps of the first adventurers to explore the summit area of Mount Revelstoke. Four years before the park was established in 1910, the Revelstoke Mountaineering Club convinced the Mayor of Revelstoke to create a hiking trail from town to the summit. Later, the trail was extended to include Eva Lake, named for club member Eva Hobbs, who was the first to see the lake. Every August since 1976, visitors have joined a Parks Canada interpreter for the famed Eva Lake Pilgrimage (12 km round trip). Together they photograph and learn about the wildflowers in full bloom and celebrate the relationship between the City of Revelstoke and Mount Revelstoke National Park. A Mount Revelstoke Centennial Event!

Pilgrimage to the Grotto of Lady of Lourdes - Mission

7494 Mary St
Mission, British Columbia
V2V 6Y9

Saturday, August 16, 2014

In the 1980s, the Mission Heritage Association (MHA) began plans to save the historic lands of the Mission. For 10 years, the reconstruction of the Grotto was a priority of the MHA and the Knights of Columbus. Eventually, through hard work and community support, the dreams of many became a reality, and in 1996 the building of the historical structure began. The new Grotto had its opening ceremonies on May 13, 1997.

Through all the changes the Grotto has undergone, pilgrimages have continued and the Grotto continues to stand as a majestic and elegant reminder of Mission's historical beginnings.
