Winter in Terrace: A Haven for Outdoor Adventure
A hub for outdoor lovers in Northwestern BC, Terrace continues to deliver through the winter months.
While Kamloops might be best known for its incredible outdoor four-season recreational opportunities, it also has a thriving arts scene. There are multiple places throughout the city to catch live music, and on most nights of the week. While these hot spots are mainly centred in the downtown core with the recent build of the Cascades Casino Kamloops, the opportunities are growing and spreading throughout the city.
Check out Tourism Kamloops’ website for a full list of live music happening each month in Kamloops. Here are five places that host live acts on a regular basis:

The Blue Grotto is the go-to spot for live music in Kamloops, and it received the award for the best place for live music from the 2014 Kamloops This Week Reader’s Choice Awards. The Blue Grotto is a 21 and over blues and classic rock night club. They have live music every Thursday, Friday and Saturday with the occasional midweek show. They even offer Burlesque shows the 2nd Thursday of every month.
Located across the river on the North Shore, The Dirty Jersey is a neighbourhood pub. They offer live entertainment on a weekly basis; everything from live music to comedy acts. They also have great burgers and fries, so arrive hungry!
The Commodore a historic venue in downtown Kamloops that transformed into a nightclub and restaurant eight years ago. They regularly feature live acts ranging from acoustic jam sessions to upbeat soft rock which get guests up and dancing. They also have in-house DJs that start at 10:00 pm each night for all those night owls out there.
Cascades Casino is Kamloops’ newest entertainment venue, and one of the only places to catch live music ‘up the hill’. The casino is located in the Aberdeen area of Kamloops, right off Highway 5. Between Match Eatery & Public House and the main stage in the casino, they are offering live acts every week.

If partying at a nightclub isn’t your scene but you still want to catch some live music, The Art We Are is the place to go. A funky little coffee shop (that also has awesome food!) in downtown Kamloops, the vibe is very laid back and relaxed. If you’d rather sway to acoustic tunes with a chai latte in your hand than hit the dance floor, The Art We Are is the place for you.
