Jade Seafood Restaurant offers fresh seafood and a mix of contemporary and traditional dim sum. Don't miss their Steamed Eggs with B.C. Dungeness Crab and Green Onions which was awarded a Critics' Choice Signature Dish Award at the Chinese Restaurant Awards (2013). Shiang Garden Seafood Restaurant serves up authentic Cantonese dim sum like pan-fried onion cakes and shrimp dumplings in a traditional Chinese tea house setting.
For Korean comfort food in a cozy setting, try Haroo Restaurant. Foodie Lindsay Anderson who blogged about a Richmond restaurant a day for an entire year wrote "If Haroo were a man I'd marry him...Why? Becuase I love Haroo SO MUCH."
If you are in the Golden Village but craving something other than Asian cuisine, head to MoMa Contemporary Bistro for refined French and Italian fare.The restaurant is run by Chef Henry Mok, a Red Seal certified chef and Chef David Wong who represented Canada at the Culinary Olympics, Bocuse d'Or.
West Coast Cuisine in Steveston
Formerly a mecca for salmon canning, Steveston remains Canada's largest commercial fishing port which is reflected in the diverse assortment of seafood offered here.
Blue Canoe on the Steveston Wharf incorporates offers a stunning view and blends fresh local ingredients into offerings like oven-baked crab cakes and seafood dip with yam fries. Tapenade Bistro blends French tradition with West Coast Innovation and showcases local, sustainable and seasonal ingredients.
For fish and chips lovers, Pajo's is a local institution, dishing up deep-fried cod, salmon, and halibut at its two Richmond locations. Another local favourite, Dave's Fish & Chips, offers both dine-in and take-out service.
Richmond Food Events
During the summer months, two night markets offer incredible multicultural street food and well as live entertainment and hundreds of vendors for shopping. On Canada Day (July 1) 70,000 people converege on Steveston to for a salmon BBQ, multi-ethnic food fair and to watch a small fotilla of tall ships and historic vessels at the Steveston Salmon Festival and Ships to Shore.
