Seeking a truly unique and relaxing Canadian wilderness experience? There are two natural hot springs close to Kimberley that can provide that.
Known for their curative properties, the soothing hot springs offer the best in outdoor relaxation.
The best time to visit is late summer when the springs are at their hottest and the river levels are at their lowest, and the surrounding scenery is captivating.
The undeveloped, naturally occurring hot springs are a group of small rock-lined hot pools with gravel bottoms that are located along the creeks edge. Temperatures range from 40–43˚C/104–109˚F.
For the brave, a plunge in the icy river after a hot soak is sure to leave a memorable impression!

Lussier Hot Springs
Lussier Hot Springs is located at the 17km/10mi marker on the Whiteswan Lake Forestry Road, accessed off Highway 93/95. Parking is on the south side of the road where there's a well-maintained change room and dry toilet. The hot springs are a short five-minute walk down a moderately steep hill. These springs are suitable for families and are quite popular, especially on weekends. Visit early in the morning if seeking solitude.
Buhl Creek
Buhl Creek Hot Springs are in a more remote location and visitors should expect bathers in the buff – many locals like to enjoy the springs au naturel. The hot springs can be accessed from Highway 93/95 at Farstad Way just south of Skookumchuck or from Thunderhill Road just north of Canal Flats. For detailed driving directions, contact the Visitor Centre or ask a local.
The large, shallow pool is on the right, but the best springs are on the upstream side of the old bridge abutment. These springs are perfect for a quiet soak in clear water and are mostly free of the sulphuric odour that often comes with natural hot springs.
Hot Spring Safety
The narrow, winding roads to both hot springs are well-maintained and accessible during the summer with any vehicle, but extreme caution should be taken on all back roads as mine ore trucks and oversized, loaded logging trucks haul here, year-round. Take caution with young children, as the hot springs are located alongside creeks with rapid moving water.
Developed Hot Springs
For those seeking commercially developed hot spring resorts (spring water fed into swimming-type pools) and don't mind a longer drive, Fairmont Hot Springs and Radium Hot Springs are also worth a dip. Fairmont is located 96km/60mi north of Kimberley, and Radium is a further 35km/22mi from there.
