Transportation & Maps

Chemainus has a small peaceful village ambience despite its proximity to the Trans-Canada Highway, just five minutes west of town.

This multi-lane expressway links Victoria (75 minutes to the south) with Nanaimo (a half hour north), site of two of the island's three major ferry terminals.

Chemainus is also a featured stop along numerous driving routes through the Vancouver Island region.

The quickest direct route to Chemainus is via the Henry Road exit off the Trans-Canada – a stoplight-controlled intersection about 15 minutes north of Duncan and five minutes south of Ladysmith. Car rentals are not available in Chemainus, but operators are found along the Trans-Canada Highway and in nearby communities.
