Park in BC (JF Bergeron photo)
Cache Creek has two provincial parks – Juniper Beach and Arrowstone – that offer great fishing, hiking, swimming, and camping in summer, and snowshoeing in winter.
An abundance of wildlife also makes these parks a good location for wildlife photography and bird watching.
Juniper Beach Provincial Park
Juniper Beach Provincial Park (260ha/642ac ) is close to the Thompson River and offers easy access to a variety of outdoor activities. It's a popular place for fishing, hiking, and photography. The park attracts campers, boaters, kayakers, canoeists, and anglers. The Thompson River is the location of an important Steelhead salmon run. It is important for boaters to check river conditions before launching, as waters can get a bit rough. The first-come first-served, campground has 30 RV and tenting campsites, rugged river trails, fresh water taps, picnic tables, electric hook ups, pit toilets, fire pits, a sani-dump and hot showers.

There's also a large day use area with good parking, and access to the river, a small sandy beach, and a swimming hole. The river is fast-moving sometime, so be careful. Juniper Beach Provincial Park rests in a valley surrounded by rolling hills covered in sagebrush, juniper, and pear cactus 20 km/12mi from Cache Creek along the Trans-Canada Highway, near the historic community of Walhachin.
Arrowstone Provincial Park
Arrowstone Provincial Park is a wilderness area with great fishing, hiking, back-country camping, outfitting, and snowshoeing. Snowmobiling is not allowed. The park protects the largest watershed in the dry southern interior. The main entry to Arrowstone is via the road to Loon Lake. A forestry road follows a section of the park's boundary, so entry to the park is possible from various locations.
