Mt. Timothy is the main place for skiing and snowboarding in this area. This is a family-focused ski hill owned and operated by a not-for-profit society.
Mt. Timothy is located 23km/14mi east of Lac La Hache, and is an approximately 45-minute drive northeast of 100 Mile House.
Mt. Timothy has a vertical drop of 284m/938ft, 33 runs and appeals to skiers and snowboarders of all skill levels. More than two-thirds of the terrain is suitable for intermediate/advanced skiers or boarders, although there are plenty of beginner trails to allow the novice to practice at his or her comfort own level.
Terrain Park and Ski Season
The Mt. Timothy Terrain Park features boxes, rails and jumps. A magic carpet for beginners and kids provides access to the hill and the Freestyle Zone.
Mt. Timothy's skiing season runs from mid-December to late March. The hill is open every weekend and most weekdays, but is closed Tuesdays.
A comfortable licensed day lodge offers a place to warm up and eat lunch, which can be purchased on site; visitors are also welcome to bring their own packed lunches.
Skiing & Snowboarding Lessons
Certified instructors at the Snow School on Mt. Timothy provide lessons for all ages and levels. The school attracts approximately 2,500 school-age children, youth and corporate groups seasonally. Bookings are on a first-come, first-served basis. Equipment rental and sales are available at the pro-shop on the hill.
Getting to Mt. Timothy
A bus runs to and from Williams Lake and Mt. Timothy on Saturdays only, and to and from 100 Mile House daily (when there is enough interest). Visitors are advised to book in advance. There are accommodations in the communities near Mt Timothy, but nothing is available on the hill.
The Hills Snow Park
For families seeking a smaller and gentler hill to explore, The Hills Snow Park at The Hills Guest Ranch provides a great day out. Designed for the novice or beginner, the runs total 457m/1,500ft and skiers are towed by a rope instead of the larger chair lifts. There is also a tubing run for kids of all ages, also with a tow rope. No need to carry the tubes up the hill alone!
The Hills' downhill ski and snowboard terrain is set in a park-like setting. Lessons are available. Night skiing goes until 9:00pm and there is a full-service ski shop providing rentals of downhill skis, boots, poles, even snowboarding boots and boards. After an invigorating day outdoors, pay a visit to the Hills' many spa and wellness services.
