Williams Lake

Transportation & Maps

Williams Lake is 540km/348mi north of Vancouver and 238km/148mi south of Prince George and is easily accessed by road and air.

Car Travel

The city is strategically located at the junction of two highways: Highway 20 leading west to Bella Coola and the BC Ferries terminal, and Highway 97 leading north to Prince George and on to Alaska, or south to Kamloops or Vancouver. This makes the city a convenient stopping point for those traveling on the Coast Cariboo or the Lakes and Trails circle route tours.

A car is really the best way to get around Williams Lake, as many of the activities that can be enjoyed in the area are quite spread out.

Vehicles must be equipped with winter tires for the snow season, although most roads in town are paved. There are also two 24-hour gas and service stations in town. National Car and Truck Rental has a desk in the airport terminal building as well as a location in the city. Ron Ridley Rentals also rents cars in Williams Lake.
