Dining
There may be only one menu, but the Fresh Tracks Café is one of Whitewater Ski Resort's biggest claims to fame.
In Nelson, on the other hand, the challenge is having to decide on one of the 40 plus restaurants in town, and that does not include the coffee shops.
Fresh Tracks Café
It's been written up in the New York Times and raved about by every Whitewater skier that ever needed sustenance. The Fresh Tracks Café food is creatively conceived and almost everything is made from scratch. Skiing Magazine rates it "the best ski lodge food ever", and made a point of recommending the Ymir Bowl – a spicy curry dish. Take the recipes home with a copy of either the "Whitewater Cooks" or the new "Whitewater Cooks at Home" cookbook.
The All Seasons Cafe
This tiny back alley bistro in Nelson has been hailed as "British Columbia's best restaurant east of Vancouver". Hidden away in the lane behind Baker Street, the restaurant features a seasonal menu that is described as "left coast inland cuisine", and an award-winning wine list. Reservations are strongly recommended.

BiBO
On the same block of Herridge Lane in Nelson, BiBO is an intimate wine bar that serves brunch, lunch and dinner. Specialties include artisan cheeses, charcuterie, fondues and a selection of excellent wines. Local ingredients are favoured and the menu changes with the season.
Mike's Place Pub
One of the busiest spots in Nelson, Mike's Place offers a bar menu and a full restaurant menu for hungry skier and boarders. It's located on Ward Street, just down the hill from Baker Street.
Jackson's Hole
On Vernon Street, just a block north of the Hume, Jackson's Hole is a sports bar and restaurant that also attracts the Whitewater crowd.
Coffee Shop Culture
There are numerous coffee shops in Nelson, but none compares with Oso Negro. For an authentic taste of Nelson and its unique coffee shop culture, try their locally roasted coffee. It's a great place to meet the locals, but while there, check out the decor. All of the iron work is local, the timber framing is terrific, and the roof is made of hemp tiles.
