US-based Skiing Magazine ranked Whistler Blackcomb the best North American ski resort for an unprecedented thirteen consecutive years.
With two mountains, three glaciers, more than 200 marked trails and an average annual snowfall of almost 12m/39ft, it's no surprise that Australia's Luxury Travel Magazine has named it Best Overseas Ski Resort every year from 2005 to 2011.
Olympics in Whistler
In February 2010, Whistler served as the official host mountain resort for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
More than 20 former Olympic and Paralympic athletes live in and around this community of just 10,000 permanent residents. Ross Rebagliati, winner of the first ever Olympic gold medal for snowboarding, honed his skills on these slopes.
Most Ski Terrain in North America
Together, Whistler and Blackcomb mountains offer more skiable terrain than any resort on the continent. With the opening of the PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola, the two mountains now feature the longest continuous lift system on Earth.

Whistler's PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola
The PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola links Whistler and Blackcomb mountains and enables skiers and snowboarders to easily access terrain with a speedy and scenic 11-minute, 4.4-km/2.7-mi ride.
PEAK 2 PEAK gondola cabins travel the longest unsupported span in the world – over 3km/1.9mi from tower to tower – and at their highest point are suspended 436m/1,427 ft above Fitzsimmons Creek. Two of the 28 cabins feature glass bottoms, providing exhilarating views of the valley below.
Family-Friendly Skiing in Whistler
Whistler is the ideal spot for a family ski vacation. Childcare is available for infants and toddlers, ski and snowboard schools cater to both younger children and teenagers, and activities such as tubing or snowshoeing will delight kids of all ages.
Award-Winning Terrain Parks
Whistler Blackcomb’s epic Nintendo Terrain Parks earned the resort the Number One ranking in TransWorld SNOWBoarding’s Top Ten Best Parks category in 2009, and in 2011 Whistler was recognized for its nightlife, terrain and family-friendliness.
Après-Ski and Dining
Looking to relax after a day of skiing? Whistler Blackcomb was ranked number one in Condé Nast Traveler magazine's 2010 Best Places to Ski & Stay, with Whistler's aprés-ski scene rated higher than any other resort in North America.
Dining in Whistler is equally renowned. Celebrate a special occasion by sabering champagne in a 20,000-bottle cellar, or enjoy sushi that, according to the New York Times, features "some of the best Japanese artistry east of Tokyo."
