Whistler Heli-Skiing & Cat-Skiing
Heli-skiing near Whistler, Tourism BC/Randy Lincks photo
Heli-skiing and cat-skiing in Whistler offers deep powder skiing in untouched terrain – without the lift lines of the ski resort.
Choose from a variety of heli-ski or cat-ski packages and venture into terrain more than 100 times the size of Whistler Blackcomb but shared by less than 50 skiers a day. At night, indulge in Whistler’s legendary après-ski experience.
Three heli-ski companies – Powder Mountain Heli/Catskiing, Whistler Heli-Skiing, and Coast Range Heli-Skiing – specialize in day trips, but often combine those with lift-skiing and heli-assisted backcountry skiing or snowshoeing.
Snow and Terrain
The mix of challenging and gentle terrain in the Coast Mountains includes heavily glaciated peaks, wide-open bowls and sub-alpine tree-skiing, and is blanketed with up to 12m/40ft of snowfall annually.

Combined, the tenures of Powder Mountain, Whistler Heli-Skiing, and Coast Range Heli-Skiing total nearly a million acres, meaning fresh tracks await skiers and boarders on nearly every run.
Popular heli-skiing areas include the Callaghan Valley (site of the Nordic events for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games); Brandywine and Spearhead to the south; and Mount Currie and Cayoosh to the north. Tricouni Mountain is popular for cat-skiing.
Whistler Heli-Skiing Tours
Powder Mountain has single-day heli-skiing for those short on time but big on powder. Descend never-before-skied runs, and end the day where it started: in Whistler's vibrant village.
At Whistler Heli-Skiing, choose from trips designed for first-time and intermediate heli-skiers, or try a private package with unlimited vertical descent. Four heli-skiing packages offer hundreds of runs on a variety of slopes, virgin powder and an on-mountain lunch with views of peaks and glaciers. Whistler Heli-Skiing is based out of Whistler Village.
Coast Range Heli-Skiing emphasizes small group heli-skiing, and has packages that range from single-day trips (four to six runs) to multi-day excursions. Interested in other winter activities? Opt for a heli-assisted backcountry skiing or snowshoeing trek through a snow-covered alpine meadow. Coast Range operates a complimentary pick-up shuttle for guests staying in Whistler, and flies out of nearby Pemberton.
Whistler Cat-Skiing Tours
Powder Mountain’s single-day cat-skiing tours take place at Tricouni Mountain – enjoy untracked powder, epic tree skiing and panoramic vistas of Whistler Blackcomb and surrounding mountains. Backcountry Snowcats operates out of nearby Pemberton and pick ups can be arranged from Whistler.
