Ruben Östland's Golden Globe nominated dramatic comedy Force Majeure will hit the screen at Millennium Place Theatre for two special screenings to celebrate the launch of the Whistler Arts Council's new state-of-the-art theatre projector, which was funded by a grant from the Whistler Blackcomb Foundation. The Cannes 2014 Jury Prize-winning movie takes place at a ski resort in the French Alps, and the avalanche featured in the film was shot in British Columbia. The film takes a stark look at masculinity, society's intolerance of male weakness, and women's expectations of men.

There will be an all-ages screening at 6:30 pm and a 19+ screening at 9:00 pm with a licensed theatre.

The Sigge's P'ayakentsut is an event for all ages and all levels of cross country skiers. Traversing Olympic legacy trails as well as old growth forests, the loppet offers participants a chance to train, to meet new friends, to enjoy the rugged wild beauty of the Callaghan Valley and to enjoy a what is truly a sport for life - cross country skiing. This year the event will take place over two days with the main loppet on Saturday and the kids tournament and youth ski cross on Sunday.
