Victoria's mild climate makes this a golfer’s haven. The golf season runs approximately from April to October, though the city’s mild climate enables many courses to stay open all year long.
The city is home to several championship golf courses, many of which offer unparalleled ocean, mountain and forest vistas from their world-class greens.
A forty-five minute drive north of Victoria is the picturesque Cowichan Valley, an area known for excellent wineries and scenic golf courses. There are more great courses farther north along Vancouver Island too.
Victoria golf courses make up five of the 12 golf courses along the Vancouver Island Golf Trail, which extends north towards Campbell River and also includes courses in Duncan, Courtenay, Parksville and Qualicum Beach.

Golf Courses in Victoria
Looking for Victoria's best-known golf hotspot? Look no further than Bear Mountain Golf Resort, host of the 2010 Telus World Skins Game, and ranked #3 in SCOREGolf magazine’s list of British Columbia’s Best Public Golf Courses in 2009.
SCOREGolf also chose Bear Mountain’s new Valley Course as Canada’s #2 Best New Golf Course in 2009. This resort offers panoramic mountain, city and ocean views, and it is Canada’s only 36 holes of Nicklaus Design golf!
Olympic View Golf Club is another of Vancouver Island’s outstanding golf experiences, and has 18 holes of championship golf complemented by waterfalls and a dozen lakes.
Victoria’s newest golf course, Highland Pacific Golf, is an exciting addition to the city's golf scene. Practice shots at the driving range, one of only two ranges in BC chosen for the 100 Top Ranges in North America award (2008-2010) by the Golf Range Association of America.
And don’t miss the beautiful Cordova Bay Golf Course, a Golf Digest 4 star rated course with views of Haro Strait and Mount Baker in Washington State.
Golf Courses in the Cowichan Valley
Head to Cobble Hill and play a round at Arbutus Ridge Golf Club, located among the wineries of the Cowichan Valley. This course was awarded four stars by prestigious Golf Digest magazine in their Places to Play. The 17th hole’s island green will leave a lasting impression.
Just up the highway is the Duncan Meadows Golf Course in Duncan, host of the 2009 BC Amateur Championship. Creeks with small-rock bridges enhance the course's natural scenery.
Planning a Golf Trip
- Tee times should be booked in advance of arrival, especially in July and August.
- Many courses have a dress code in effect, so check ahead with the course or resort.
