Dining options in Vanderhoof mainly consist of casual fare choices.
Full service restaurants, fast food joints, a bakery, Chinese cuisine, and pub grub are all on the menu for visitors here. The Bean, a fair trade coffee shop quaintly based out of an old home in downtown Vanderhoof, is also a nice place for a snack and drink.
Local Haunts
Notable places to eat include the sandwich bar at the local grocery store Scott Foods; design your ideal sandwich by choosing your bread, meat, cheese, veggies and toppings. J & S Drive, a classic diner, is also popular for its homemade pies, desserts and milkshakes.
OK Café
During the summer, visitors can also have a bite at the OK Café at the Vanderhoof Community Museum. The café dates back to the early 1920s. In its heyday, it was the main restaurant in town with dining in the front and gambling in the back. At the time all meals cost 50 cents.
Nechako Lodge
For a more up-scale, rustic-setting experience, visitors can drive to Nechako Lodge (about 90km/60mi outside town). Access is by logging road and directions are easy. Ask at the Vanderhoof Visitor Centre or contact the lodge itself.
