Some of the best cross-country skiing near Vancouver takes place about a 35-minute drive away, at Cypress Mountain, where 19km/12mi of popular trails boast city, mountain and ocean views.

Cross-Country Skiing at Cypress Mountain
At Cypress Mountain in West Vancouver, there are groomed trails for classic and skate skiing set amid idyllic snow-covered lakes and forest. There's night skiing, too. Glide along the popular "Sitzmark Trail" for views of the Gulf Islands, English Bay and downtown Vancouver, and then stop at historic Hollyburn Lodge for an indulgent fondue meal and other tasty fare.

- Cross-country ski season can begin as early as November and as late as April.
- Trail user fees are common for groomed trail networks. Check with Visitor Centres and local ski clubs for trail maps and information.
- Tours, lessons and equipment rentals are available at many of the larger cross-country ski areas and at some lodges.
- Access to routes may require four-wheel drive and tire chains.
