As a city by the ocean, much of Vancouver's activities and culture stem from the city's love affair with all things aquatic. Ocean, inlets, rivers and lakes are located in or near Vancouver, and are enhanced by dazzling views.

Spend a sun-drenched afternoon or evening on one of Vancouver's beaches; in the summer, the sun doesn't set until after 9 p.m. Indulge in every water activity imaginable, including swimming, boating, sailing, whale-watching, windsurfing, canoeing and kayaking.

The fishing opportunities abound in the Pacific Ocean as well as in the fresh waters of nearby rivers and lakes.
