The Dance Centre's Discover Dance! noon series features Vancouver's JC Dance Co. in a performance showcasing the glamour and skill of Ballroom and Latin dance. The company's performance team will be joined by competitive ballroom dance students in a selection of classic dances including the Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep, Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba and Jive. There will also be a question-and-answer session with the dancers. Tickets $14/$12.

KDocs is KPU's very own Documentary Film Festival, led by learners and educators from all of KPU's communities. KDocs contributes to KPU's engagement of various and varied communities, through documentary screenings and community dialogue, in critical thinking and understanding about ourselves, our communities, and our world.

KDocs celebrates the power of documentary film. Working in partnership with the Vancouver International Film Centre + Vancity Theatre, each semi-annual film festival event will showcase award-winning documentary films, keynote speakers, filmmakers, panelists, exhibitors, and community members. Participants will engage in lively discussion, debate, and dialogue as they investigate today's most pressing global issues.

Since Virtual Solitaire's 1997 debut and 2000 Vancouver Fringe run, technology has advanced exponentially, and so too has its ability to leave users feeling isolated, disconnected, and sometimes addicted. In Virtual Solitaire, Nathan is addicted to full immersion virtual reality. He's had the surgery, but can't afford the bandwidth anymore. He turns to testing games for cash, but gets trapped in one when the characters take over his brain and body-and he can no longer tell the difference between his virtual reality and his real life.

Still Canada's largest 10 km road race, the Vancouver Sun Run is now the 2nd largest timed 10 km in the world. Runners, joggers, walkers, & wheelchairs make their way around the route along the streets of downtown Vancouver. The Vancouver Sun Run has truly become one of Vancouver's traditional rites of spring and is preparing for its 31st year running.

Norman Armour - Mapping a City

For over ten years, Vancouver's PuSh International Performing Arts Festival has been presenting & animating contemporary works for the stage & public spaces that explore & reflect upon civic history & identity. Innovative, trend-setting, provocative, experiential & thought-provoking are words commonly used to describe a 'PuSh show.' The festival's artistic & executive director, Norman Armour, will survey a group of stand-out projects to show how the arts, & in particular festivals, can be a central player in expressing & shaping a city's evolving sense of itself. This talk will be preceded by a short musical performance by Veda Hille.
