Cross-Country Skiing
Cross-Country skiing (Dave Heath photo)
On Vancouver Island, go cross-country skiing at Mount Washington Alpine Resort and peaceful Strathcona Provincial Park, which is conveniently located just outside the resort boundaries.
Mount Washington’s cross-country skiing facilities are world-class: it’s an official training site for XC Canada, and three international teams trained here prior to the 2010 Winter Games.
Cross-Country Skiing at Mount Washington and Strathcona Park
Enjoy 55km/34mi of groomed trails that run through Mount Washington resort and into spectacular Strathcona Provincial Park. Glide past old-growth cedars, frozen lakes and snowy peaks. Access upper trails (as well as ocean-to-alpine views) via the chairlift. Raven day lodge provides rentals, lessons and dining options.
Accommodation is available slopeside and in nearby Courtenay, Comox and Nanaimo. Looking for a break from skis? Join the guided Snowshoe and Fondue Dinner Tour through the forests of Strathcona.

The 2010-11 season brought us the most snow in resort history, what a winter! To celebrate, we've injected 3 million dollars into redeveloping our entire learning area, now called Easy Acres. Easy Acres will be one of the easiest places to slide on snow & one of the best places to learn to turn!
Easy Acres features 4 new Magic Carpets, which are just like moveable walkways you would see at an airport. Our Magic Carpets will be the longest in North America & feature covered canopies to protect you from the elements.
