Due to the temperate climate, most outdoor activities can be enjoyed year-round on Vancouver Island.
In winter, there is abundant snow on the mountains, particularly at Mount Washington Alpine Resort, for skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing and tubing.
Cross-country skiers should head to Strathcona Provincial Park, where 55km/34mi of trails await. These trails were the same ones used by a multitude of international teams when they trained for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
