Qualicum Beach's Fire and Ice event will be back on Saturday, May 3 in 2014 with more food & entertainment choices than ever.

The event will continue its longstanding "fire and ice" theme, but in addition to the traditional chili tasting other kinds of hot foods will be available. Visitors will be able to choose from both chili cups as well as other "hot" food options from local restaurants.

The popular ice carving will return, with additional "ice" activities such as ice cream making and new "ice" food options.

On the entertainment side, local musicians will continue to be highlighted, while the overall event will reintroduce a theme concept to inspire costumes and ice carving. The theme for 2014 will be "Pirates of Qualicum Beach".

The annual Multicultural Festival comes to the Old City Quarter on Saturday, June 14 bringing with it a variety of family-friendly activities, entertainment and, of course, fabulous food. Wesley Street will be closed to traffic so we can make way for the entertainment stages, vendors, displays, children's area and the international food tent. From 10:30am to 3:30pm the two entertainment stages will offer a variety of cultural and traditional music, song, dance and demonstrations. Join us at the international food fair for a taste of the exotic or browse the many vendors offering demonstrations, information and products from around the globe. The children's area will once again have the popular bouncy castles, face painting and crafts.

For many years the people of the Comox Valley have come together to celebrate the vibrant cultures and diversity of the First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples of Canada on Saturday June 21 from 12-6pm, National Aboriginal Day.  Stroll around the K'omoks grounds to see the unique offerings of the craft and artisan vendors, storytellers and workshops. Witness traditional dances from the West Coast, Prairie, and Metis people, including the Kumugwe Dance Group. Savour Aboriginal foods such as wild sockeye salmon cooked traditionally around an open fire, buffalo burgers and Elk stew, and fresh bannock with homemade jam and candy-smoked salmon. Join us on the original K'omoks village site - to celebrate our country's rich cultural history.
