Events for the weekend include a pancake breakfast, laying of wreaths at Ginger Goodwin gravesite, cemetery tour, refreshments, pub crawl, dinner & entertainment. A full schedule will be available closer to the date. The purpose of Miner's Memorial Weekend is to: renew the commitment to strive for safe & healthy workplaces for all workers, commemorate the miners who worked & lost their lives in the mines of Cumberland & other workplaces throughout BC, commemorate the life & contribution of Ginger Goodwin, union organizer & labour martyr.

Dedication of a magnificent six-foot marble sculpture of an Aboriginal woman will be the highlight of the Mary Winspear Centre's National Aboriginal Day celebrations in Sidney. Also take in a Coast Salish art exhibit, carving demonstration and kids' activities based on Aboriginal and Metis cultures. A wonderful way to celebrate this special day with our First Peoples! Unveiling at 5:30 pm.

National Aboriginal Day 2013 will be one of our largest celebrations. Bring the whole family to K'ómoks village to enjoy a fun-filled day. Savour some of our amazing traditional cuisine: wild Sockeye salmon cooked on cedar sticks over an open fire, candied salmon, & BBQ Buffalo Burgers. We can't have an event without tasty bannock cooked fresh on site & spread with berry jams. Find unique & beautiful offerings in the artisan tents that surround I-Hos Gallery. Enjoy dancing in the Big House by Coast Salish, Nu-chal-nulth & Kwakwa dance groups. Free kids activities in the band hall.

The former Luxton Station Market has moved to Bryn Maur Road in downtown Langford and has taken on a new name reflective of the new location - the Goldstream Station Market! We look forward to a vibrant and active market. The market is held every Saturday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, opening for the season in May and running until October.
