Beautiful quilts, special displays, merchant's mall, concession, raffle quilts, door prizes, members' store, Scavenger Hunt for children & hands on demonstrations including Crazy Quilting, Charity Sewing, hand quilting & more. Eagle Ridge Community Centre, 1089 Langford Parkway, Victoria, BC Friday and Saturday, 10 am - 6 pm, Sunday 10 am - 4 pm, Admission $6 for the weekend.

Although Emily Carr described herself as an isolated little old woman on the edge of nowhere, her work has a universal appeal. With this exhibition, the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria will become the premiere destination on Vancouver Island to visit and learn about Emily Carr through her paintings. On the Edge of Nowhere will include a historical survey of Carr's artistic career, featuring pieces in all the media & styles she explored & perfected. It will also focus on Carr's influences & inspirations, such as European modern art, members of the Group of Seven artists, First Nations artists and Carr's spirituality.

Master sand sculptors travel from all corners of the globe to participate in this remarkable competition & exhibit.

Sculptors have 24 hours over 3 days to create masterpieces from just sand & water.

The competition, which is an official World Sand Sculpting Championships qualifying event, begins with the "pound up" (when sculptors build & fill their forms) on July 13 & the winners are announced on July 14.

The gated exhibit is open to the public until August 18 & votes are taken for people's favourite sculpture.

Entry to the exhibit area is by donation (suggested donation: $2.50 per person).

The Sooke Fine Arts Show provides the opportunity for the finest artists from Vancouver Island & BC's Coastal Islands to showcase & sell their work. Along with the more than 8,000 annual visitors who attend, the 11-day show draws hundreds of art patrons from British Columbia, western Canada, & the United States. The Originals Only Art Show & Sale was created as an opportunity for visual artists working at all levels to learn from each other and provide them with a venue so that they can showcase their work. The focus of the show is to present original works of art to the general public. Participants are restricted to traditional art forms of paintings, drawings and sculpture. All artwork at the show is original and created by the artist who is present in the booth during the entire show.

The 8th annual Quadra Island Paint Out happens with the support of Firesign Art & Design and the Heriot Bay Inn, in conjunction with the International Plein Air Painters (IPAP) & the 11th Great Worldwide Paint Out.

On the Saturday, artists will paint at various locations at Rebecca Spit Provincial Park.

On the Sunday afternoon there will be an exhibit of the weekend's work & a reception at the Heriot Bay Inn. The public is invited to view the art & meet the artists.

This event is happening simultaneously around the world as part of the 11th Great Worldwide Paint Out.
