Sundays from Mothers Day to the end of October begin early with the clatter of tables & tents. The close family of vendors chatter & catch up on the past weeks events amidst the squeals of children, sips of coffee & soundchecks from the stage. 10 am marks the start of the market. The music begins to play signaling the farmers, butchers, fisherman, bakers, cooks & craftspeople to begin releasing their handmade wares to the growing number of people. The Cedar Farmers Market continually hosts local & out of town guests - some from as far afield as Vancouver, Campbell River & Victoria.

Start your summer off with a bang! Step back in time with a walk through Nanaimo's oldest heritage building and visit three floors of museum exhibits. Visitor information is also available during Bastion operating hours. Experience the cannon firing re-enactment ceremony from 11:45-12:00 daily. On Thursdays and Saturdays in July and August only the cannon firing ceremony features Highland dance performances by youth from the Brigadoon Dance Academy. These dance performances are a tribute to the Scottish families that immigrated to Nanaimo in the 1850s. The Bastion is located on Front Street in downtown.
