18th Annual English Car Affair in the Park

At 10:00 am precisely the skirl of the pipes will herald the start of this very popular event. Over a hundred classic & vintage British automobiles will festoon Fort Rodd Hill's open meadow. Sponsored by the Old English Car Club of BC, this event delights connoisseurs and intrigue newcomers. Each year, vehicles of a selected marque are showcased under the streamers of the maypole.

Over five days beginning Wednesday, September 11th, come and join in the building excitement downtown led by a renowned international 3D chalk artist who will create a 20 by 20ft 3D chalk art drawing at The Bay Centre's lower level, centre court. Then on Saturday and Sunday, September 14th & 15th, the 3D artist's efforts will be complemented by a two-day chalk art exposition on streets across downtown Victoria! Both international and local artists will present works on the pavement of Government Street, Broad Street and in Spirit Square.

The Luxton Fall Fair is an old-fashioned fair that focuses on providing fun for the whole family. It is a lively combination of Luxton's agricultural roots & present status as a rapidly-developing suburb of Victoria. Attractions include: live entertainment, dirt-bike rides, Midway rides, antique farm equipment displays, hand-milking & processing demonstrations, Tough Truck Challenge, agricultural education displays, farm animals, chainsaw carvers, blacksmiths, museum displays, great food, a tea room, local corn, canning, baking, arts & crafts & children's exhibits. The 8th annual Quadra Island Paint Out happens with the support of Firesign Art & Design and the Heriot Bay Inn, in conjunction with the International Plein Air Painters (IPAP) & the 11th Great Worldwide Paint Out.

On the Saturday, artists will paint at various locations at Rebecca Spit Provincial Park.

On the Sunday afternoon there will be an exhibit of the weekend's work & a reception at the Heriot Bay Inn. The public is invited to view the art & meet the artists.

This event is happening simultaneously around the world as part of the 11th Great Worldwide Paint Out.

Much loved by young & old, locals & tourists alike, the annual Fall Fair is Salt Spring Island's oldest community event, & the one with the most heart!

Celebrations & competitions have changed somewhat through the years, but much is still as it was when agriculture was the backbone of the economy, & the fair originated in 1896.

Thousands of entries are expected to delight crowds of all ages this year. Classification of entries fall under livestock, horticulture, homemade wines, foods, hobbies, crafts, & many more!

An incredible weekend experience that will test your mental and physical limits. The Ryder Hesjedal's Tour de Victoria is a supported mass participation cycling event, catering to all fitness levels by offering three distances: 140km for the enthusiast, 100km for the entry-level rider and a 50km ride for those who want to experience cycling for the first time! The 2012 Tour was a huge success with riders from all over North America gathering together to tour the beautiful back roads of Victoria and its surrounding municipalities. The Sip & Savour Salt Spring Festival brings together growers, food providers & chefs from the island & neighbouring Gulf Islands, Cowichan Valley & Saanich Peninsula, & partners them with BC vintners.
