The Tofino Lantern Festival is our 'signature' community event and fundraiser, drawing the young and old with an unbelievable variety of handmade lanterns. The Tofino Lantern Festival was born in 2001 & since then has grown to feature local musicians and artists and includes a 'permanent collection' of locally created West Coast lanterns. Many of these lanterns are modeled on local flora and fauna, such as mushrooms, sharks, flowers, fish, owls, banana slugs and trees, but there is also a village worth of houses, a constellation of stars, a galaxy of planets, a yard of recycling lanterns and much, much more.

2013 will be the 36th Victoria Classic Boat Festival. The Victoria Classic Boat Festival is a juried event that has been held in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada for 36years. The Festival attracts the finest power, sail, & steam boats from the Pacific Northwest & around the world. A number of the vessels will be open to the public over the weekend in addition to the activity of the smaller boats, motor & steam running around the harbour. The Sunday morning Sailpast is always a great spectacle.

The 145th annual Saanich Fair is the best place to be Labour Day weekend! Come learn about local farming from horses to horticulture to pigs to pickles - there's something for everyone! Added attractions are many, including acrobats on horseback, pie & ice cream eating contests, Highland Dancers, to name just a few. Hundreds of volunteers dedicate their time to bringing the best entertainment, education & fun for the entire family. With over 5,000 exhibits, midway rides, traditional homemade treats & home grown veggies, the Saanich Fair has it all!

Labour Day is Members' Day at the BC Forest Discovery Centre! Relax with your family on the last day of summer vacation & ride the final steam train of the season. To show our appreciation of your support, we will be providing one complimentary hot dog & pop to each member (upon presentation of your membership card). As well, general family members will enjoy a free visit without a punch on their card.

18th Annual English Car Affair in the Park

At 10:00 am precisely the skirl of the pipes will herald the start of this very popular event. Over a hundred classic & vintage British automobiles will festoon Fort Rodd Hill's open meadow. Sponsored by the Old English Car Club of BC, this event delights connoisseurs and intrigue newcomers. Each year, vehicles of a selected marque are showcased under the streamers of the maypole.
