Quadra Island Artists host their annual Studio Tour June 1st, 2nd. Quadra is in the Discovery Islands, just a short ferry ride from Campbell River. Visitors can check out studios where artists work in glass, stone sculpture, pottery, photography, printmaking, painting & other media. A great opportunity to meet the creative people behind the artwork & to explore Quadra Island. Tour the studios, go for a picnic on Rebecca Spit, enjoy the view of the mountains across Sutil Channel - a perfect weekend outing. After the opening June 1st & 2nd weekend, many studios continue to welcome visitors throughout the summer.

Cheer on your family member or friend, or participate in North America's toughest pledge walk/ultramarathon, in "Burning Boot" country!

This event involves running or walking 63.5 kilometres along a gravel logging road from Gold River to Tahsis on Vancouver Island - some of the most rugged & beautiful country in the world.

The walk is an annual fundraising event sponsored by the Tahsis Lions Club. Great Walkers have raised more than $1 million for worthy charities over the years.

There are 12 checkpoints along the way, offering refreshments, drinks, first aid & moral support!

Tofino Food & Wine Festival celebrates the marriage of food & wine in the beautiful Tofino Botanical Gardens.

The festival is both a destination weekend for out of town guests & a favourite for locals. This is because of the unique setting, as well as the excellent quality of food & wine provided by local chefs & winemakers.

The main event, Grazing in the Gardens, showcases local culinary talents & British Columbia wines.

It is truly a memorable weekend & a wonderful way to experience the west coast.

The festival events support several non-profit organizations & initiatives.

Each year the Community Arts Council of the Saanich Peninsula presents two studio tours; one in the spring & one in fall. The many local artists who register for these tours open their studios for free to the public. Please see our website for more details.

Ocean's Day has been celebrated worldwide since 1992, when it was declared a celebratory day to care for our oceans at the Rio de Janeiro Earth Summit. On June 8th, many partners in Campbell River are coming together to help make this a fun-filled family event. Most of the activity will take place around the Maritime Heritage Centre. Past events have included such things as Coast Guard Tour of Point Race, Free Fishing at the Pier, Aquaculture info, DFO demo of the ROV Remotely operated vehicle, free tours at the centre, Pirate Bounce-A-Rama, Dunk Tank & music.
