Vancouver Island Shopping

Shopping in the Vancouver Island region is a gastronomic delight. The island is dotted with farms producing fresh and delicious meats, cheeses, vegetables and fruits. The area is also home to the second largest wine-producing region in BC. Of course, good food isn't the only thing you'll find here: local artists and artisans send a steady stream of one-of-a-kind pieces to shops, galleries and markets. Don't forget to check out Coombs Old Country Market for its fine local produce, exotic gifts, first-class deli... and goats on the roof!

While the region does offer shoppers everything from big-name fashion to big-box outlets, visitors are attracted to charming boutiques, tucked into heritage buildings, which sell an array of unique creations made locally. These include handmade soaps and body care products, hand-knit sweaters made from the wool of Island sheep, and handcrafted furniture made from Island wood, and an amazing selection of unique folk art: gillnet rugs, hand-painted gumboots and hand-blown glass.

Then enjoy the rest of the museum and all its hands-on opportunities. You'll experience authentic artifacts in highly realistic immersive settings - from Woolly Mammoth in his rocky, icy world, to a short trip on the tar-scented HMS Discovery.
