The Vancouver, Coast & Mountains region offers some of the best and most accessible skiing and snowboarding in British Columbia, all within an easy drive of Vancouver.
Three ski resorts (Cypress Mountain, Mount Seymour, and Grouse Mountain) are less than a 45-minute drive from downtown Vancouver. Cypress Mountain was a venue for the 2010 Winter Games.
Whistler, the 2010 Winter Games’ official host mountain resort, has been named best ski destination in North America by US-based Skiing Magazine for an unprecedented 13 consecutive years.
Looking for a smaller-scale ski or snowboard experience? Head east from Vancouver to Hemlock Valley (near Harrison Hot Springs) or Manning Park Ski Resort. Both ski areas have pristine surroundings and uncrowded slopes.
Award-winning Skiing in Whistler
Whistler Blackcomb’s two mountains have more skiable terrain than any other destination in North America. Combined, they offer more than 200 runs, three glaciers, and numerous terrain parks. The record-breaking PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola links Whistler and Blackcomb mountains, and allows skiers to access terrain on both peaks with a speedy and scenic 11-minute, 4.4-km/2.7-mi ride. According to Skiing Magazine, Whistler also has the best après-ski scene on the continent.
