Footlight Theatre Company presents the cotton candy coloured, jukebox-musical phenomenon, The Marvelous Wonderettes. Roger Bean's off-Broadway smash hit - directed locally by Wayne Nolan with musical direction by Kate MacColl - follows four friends through the trials and smiles of high school in 1958 and then again at their ten-year reunion in 1968. It's a tribute to the girl-group sounds of the '50s and '60s, featuring iconic songs from two of the greatest decades in American pop music. The toe-tapping, sugary sweet musical numbers are non-stop fun and include such classics as Mr. Sandman, Secret Love, It's in His Kiss, and It's My Party.

Adapted by Nigel Williams. In the midst of nuclear war, an airplane carrying English school boys crashes on a deserted island. Forced to fend for themselves, the survivors attempt to scrape together a civilized society governed by simple rules and regulations. Afflicted by fear of an evil beast lurking on the island, and as the lust for power and control takes over, the cadre's fragile paradise quickly disintegrates into savage and violent anarchy. Marking the 50th anniversary of William Golding's celebrated dystopian novel, this provocative production explores humanity's dark capacity for evil when fear, power and control are left unchecked.
