Phoenix Chamber Choir's 32nd season, titled Shine Warm, begins with LIFT - a concert of music on themes of promise, hope, and renewal during difficult times. Compelling works by Arvo Pärt, Herbert Howells, Jonathan Dove, Thomas Tallis, and Gerald Finzi, will elevate your soul with their captivating and soaring melodies, and their often other-worldly harmonies. Haunting discordance and comforting resolution are in perfect balance in the hands of these masterful composers. Perfectly suited to the stunning acoustics of Holy Rosary Cathedral and West Van United, this concert will feature collaborative works for choir and organ with our gifted guest artist, Michael Murray.

Indulge in three masterpieces penned by chamber music titans Haydn, Beethoven, and Brahms. Koerner Quartet serves as ensemble-in-residence at the Vancouver Academy of Music (VAM) where they fulfill a mandate to cultivate an appreciation of chamber music amongst Vancouver audiences. This concert opens with Haydn's String Quartet Op. 64 No. 5 "Lark," followed by the effortless genius of Beethoven's early period String Quartet Op. 18 No. 4, and Brahms' exuberant String Quintet No. 2 in G Major, featuring Koerner Quartet alumnus, violist Marcus Takizawa.

Adapted by Nigel Williams. In the midst of nuclear war, an airplane carrying English school boys crashes on a deserted island. Forced to fend for themselves, the survivors attempt to scrape together a civilized society governed by simple rules and regulations. Afflicted by fear of an evil beast lurking on the island, and as the lust for power and control takes over, the cadre's fragile paradise quickly disintegrates into savage and violent anarchy. Marking the 50th anniversary of William Golding's celebrated dystopian novel, this provocative production explores humanity's dark capacity for evil when fear, power and control are left unchecked.
