The crystal clear lakes and glacial-fed rivers of Valemount attract anglers of all experience levels year round.
Kokanee, bull trout, and whitefish are common catches. Dolly Varden are abundant in August and September, while rainbow trout, brook trout, and other species are biting the rest of the season.
Guided Fishing
While the Valemount area offers a wide variety of angling options, from boat fishing and fly-fishing to stream wading, newcomers to the area may want to head out with an experienced guide. Guided fishing trips vary from single to overnight to mutli-day adventures. Check out local fishing hotspots and learn to fly fish or try belly boat fishing. Visitors can choose from independent guides or local operator, Bustin' Trout.
Fishing Spots
Generally speaking, the streams and lakes in the immediate vicinity of Mount Robson are too cold for good fishing. However, there are some fishing sites in Mount Robson Provincial Park.
