Surfing & Watersports
Surfing (JF Bergeron photo)
Pacific Rim National Park offers the best surfing in Canada. What's more, with water temperatures remaining constant at about 10°C/50°F all year round, the season lasts forever.
Ukee's Best Surfing
Ucluelet's nearest great surfing spots are Wickaninnish Beach and Long Beach. Just 10 minutes away, "Wick" Beach is easily accessible from the paved walkway from the parking lot and from several local access trails leading from major resorts. A picnic shelter and tables provide respite from endless sunshine. The beach also accesses the 2.5km/1.6mi Nuu-cha-nulth Trail.
Surfing at Long Beach
Long Beach is legendary, and has 16km/10mi of white sand, driftwood, Pacific rollers and the wide-open grandeur of sand, sea and sky. With two pay parking lots, changing facilities and flush toilets, it's easily the super attraction of Pacific Rim. Surfers are seen riding the waves all year-round, even in storm-watching season when the daredevils among them perform like a wave-driven Cirque du Soleil.
