Cast a line into crystalline waters at Monkman Lake, or fly-fish for Arctic grayling and northern pike from the edge of the Murray River near Tumbler Ridge.
Monkman Lake contains bull trout and is open for fishing between May and October (bull trout quotas are in effect). There are also fantastic fishing opportunities in summer and winter at lakes close to Tumbler Ridge.
Gwillim Lake
Thrilling opportunities are in store for avid anglers at Gwillim Lake, which is 56km/34.8mi south of Tumbler Ridge on Highway 29. Gaze into the depths while fishing one of the deepest lakes in the region at 48m/158ft deep. Lake trout, Arctic grayling, and whitefish are found in Gwillim Lake.

Moose Lake
Fish for rainbow trout at Moose Lake, a small pretty lake set against the Rocky Mountain Foothills. Rainbow trout are stocked in Moose Lake, and some brook trout are still present. Moose Lake is located along a gravel road between Gwillim Lake and Tumbler Ridge on Highway 29 and is marked by highway signage.
Quality Lake
Bundle up for ice fishing at Quality Lake, north of Tumbler Ridge. Drive 7km/4mi north and turn right onto Bearhole Lake Road for another 6km/7mi. Quality Lake is stocked annually with rainbow trout and is also inhabited by brook trout. This beautiful setting makes for a great fishing summer or winter trip.
Stony Lake
Looking for a fighting jackfish? Stony Lake is home to northern pike (also referred to as water dragons, jackfish and slew sharks). Anglers planning a trip to Stony Lake should be prepared for rough gravel roads into the lake, which is located 55km/34mi south of Tumbler Ridge on Highway 52.
