Trail offers many seasonal outdoor recreational opportunities, sporting events, and culture and history tours.
Take advantage of Trail's Columbia River location on a boat cruising or fishing excursion, or soak up the sun on the beach at Gyro Park.
Take in a Junior A division hockey game, or check out the champions at the Sports Hall of Memories.
Trail's mining industry history is prominently displayed at the Teck Interpretive Centre (located at the Trail Visitor Centre) and on guided tours of the smelter plant. Smelter tours are guided by retired Teck employees, and are by appointment only.
History, Food & Winery
Explore the "snakes and ladders" network of streets and covered staircases of Italian Town, and look for impressive rock retaining walls. Learn more about local history at the City of Trail Museum and the Sports Hall of Memories, both of which are located in the Trail Memorial Centre on Victoria Street.
Food and wine lovers can buy imported Italian pasta at the Star Grocery on Rossland Avenue in the Gulch, chow down on authentic Italian cuisine at the Colander Restaurant, 1475 Cedar Avenue, or some excellent red and white VQA wines at the Columbia Gardens Vineyard and Winery. Tours of the winery, available for groups of six or more, are by appointment only.
Trail Smoke Eaters
For sports fans, the Trail Smoke Eaters take the ice at the Trail Memorial Centre, and Trail also hosts numerous national and international sporting events throughout the year. Golfing is another option at the Rossland/Trail Country Club's Birchbank course, or at nearby Redstone or Champion Lakes Golf Courses.
Water Activities
With local operators, the Columbia River Power Rafting, cruise the river, enjoy the scenery, and fish for rainbow trout. Visit the Trail Aquatic and Leisure Centre for a swim, a hot tub soak, or a workout. The kids can cool off in the spray park at Trail's Gyro Park, or just hang out on the sandy beach. Also in Gyro Park in summer the Trail Arts Council presents Music in the Park. Splash about in the warm waters of nearby Champion Lakes Provincial Park, off Highway 3B. There's family-friendly camping too.
