Heli-Skiing & Cat-Skiing
Heli-skiing (Randy Lincks photo)
The Thompson Okanagan region falls within one of the world’s largest and most consistent snowbelts, and offers up to 10m/33ft of light, fluffy powder annually for heli-skiing and cat-skiing.
Join a heli-skiing tour or ride with a cat-ski operator to take advantage of the powder snow, which generously coats three mountain ranges and results in an extended season that often lasts from November to April.
Snow and Terrain
The Rocky, Cariboo and Monashee mountains are made up of vast glaciers, deep valleys and the lofty summits of provincial parks. Soar down everything from glaciated plateaus to open snowfields to treed runs. Expect runs varying from knee-deep powder to easy-cruising, lightly dusted hard pack. The generally sunny climate brings excellent sun-warmed corn snow and blue skies.
