The Thompson Okanagan's endless sunny summer days allow wineries, markets, gardens, farms and orchards to flourish – it's also ideal for waterslides and amusement parks.
Interspered among the vineyards, lakes and fields are museums and historic sites that highlight Aboriginal culture, railways, pioneer farms and more.
Visit a winery on a wine tour or learn about the desert and Aboriginal culture at the Nk'Mip Desert Cultural Centre. Pick up fresh fruit and veggies at a roadside stand or stop by Historic O'Keefe Ranch for a taste of history. The Kettle Valley Steam Railway is a fun way to take in the scenery and live entertainment at the same time.

Thompson Okanagan Places of Interest
Here are a few ideas of attractions to experience in the Thompson Okanagan:
- Plan a wine tour. There are more than 100 wineries in the Thompson Okanagan. Taste award-winning vintages, enjoy a meal with a vineyard and lakeside view, or attend a wine festival – there's one for every season!
- The Nk’Mip Desert Cultural Centre showcases Okanagan First Nations culture and the unique Osoyoos desert environment. Walk along sagebrush habitat trails and watch a rattlesnake demonstration.
- Historic O’Keefe Ranch, established in 1867, is a ranching heritage site. Walk through the elegant Victorian dining room of the O’Keefe house or visit the general store to see floor to ceiling artifacts.
- Sample some of the freshest food at farms and orchards. Watch bees perform a “honey dance,” stroll in a field of alpacas, or learn how maple syrup is made.
- On the Kettle Valley Steam Railway, board a 1912 steam locomotive for a 90-minute historical tour that features lake and canyon scenery and live entertainment (such as the Great Train Robbery).
Family Attractions
Bring the family to British Columbia Wildlife Park in Kamloops for a close-up look at cougars, grizzlies, bighorn sheep, moose and more. Kids can pet a pygmy goat, let loose in the playground, or ride the “Wildlife Express” (a replica steam locomotive).
Cool down the family at Atlantis Waterslides, which has 10 waterslides ranging from “kiddie slides” to the “Double Trouble” thrill-seeker slide. Also enjoy the giant hot tub, picnic area and mini-golf course.

An Okanagan must. This family attraction now bigger! better! Plus booking corporate & group parties. Don't miss 'trapdoor starts' & racing lines unique to Oyama. Total of 7 zipline rides... some fast (clocked 85 km/hr), some high, some long with 180º panoramic lakeviews over Kalamalka Lake plus vineyard vistas over Wood Lake. The shuttle, tours & rope bridges are fun in themselves. 2-3 hrs, a thrill for every age. Best of all, Oyama Zipline is central & within 20 minutes of 20 beaches & parks. Scenic & pleasant routes so typically Okanagan. Within minutes of restaurants, patio bars, farmers' markets, art galleries, shopping.
