The arts scene in the Thompson Okanagan is largely contained within the borders of the "Okanagan Cultural Corridor."
This geographic area is bounded from east to west by Cherryville and Princeton and from north to south by Enderby and Osoyoos.
Kelowna, the biggest city in the corridor, is its epicentre and is home to the Sunshine Theatre Company, Okanagan Symphony Orchestra and Ballet Kelowna. Its major arts venues are the new Visual and Performing Arts Centre and Kelowna Community Theatre.
The Thompson Okanagan's warm, dry climate lends itself to open-air performances and celebrations. Some of the more notable ones include: Okanagan Spring Wine Festival (May); Okanagan Fall Wine Festival (October); Kamloops PowWow (August); Kelowna Regatta (July) and Vernon's Cowboy Festival & Wild West Show (July).
The town of Armstrong is home to the Caravan Farm Theatre, a unique professional theatre company that stages a full-length, open-air musical in July and August as well as the world's only horse-drawn, winter sleigh ride show in December and January.
