Walking is the perfect way to get around downtown Terrace.
Colourful and easy to read maps of the city and nearby suburb Thornhill are available at the Terrace Visitor Centre. But unless visitors plan to relax in town their whole trip, a vehicle is necessary.
Car and RV Travel
Car rentals through Budget Rent A Car and National Car Rental are available in town or at the airport. Most tourist locations even in winter are accessible with any type of vehicle.
Still, to see the best of what the area has to offer, especially during winter, a four-by-four or all-wheel drive vehicle is ideal – get to the ski hill and remote fishing spots, or head down any logging road without fears of getting stuck. When snow is on the ground, winter tires are a must.
RVers can park their vehicles in the parking lot next to the George Little House during the summer.

Buses and Public Transportation

BC Transit Rider's Guides are available in various locations including the Terrace Visitor Centre.
Visitors can rent bikes from the two local bike shops downtown. Pedaling around town, on the streets and in the trails, is fun and easy. Some local lakes and rivers are also within biking distance.
The Greyhound bus travels through Terrace, from Prince George en route to Prince Rupert and back. Buses depart most days, twice a day, in both directions.
Rail Travel
Three times a week, the VIA Rail Canada train picks up and drops off in Terrace passengers travelling between Prince George and Prince Rupert. The train station is behind the George Little House at the bottom of Kalum Street downtown. The route follows Highway 16 closely and is a great way to see untouched wilderness in the area as well as wildlife.
Air Travel
Three airlines fly to and from Terrace. Air Canada and Hawkair both have two flights a day between Vancouver and Terrace in both directions, while Central Mountain Air flies to other communities in Northern BC.
