While there are several championship courses within a one hour drive of Sun Peaks – the resort also has its own remarkable Graham Cooke designed course.
Sun Peaks Golf Course
Sun Peaks Golf Course, built along McGillivray Creek, which winds quietly through a thick pine and spruce, is an 18-hole championship course masterfully integrated into its surrounding wilderness.
This 5808m/6352yd course is well known for the shot making challenges of its front nine and its contrasting back nine, which rewards the long-ball hitter.
The course has really two very distinct layouts: The first nine is tightly constructed between the trees and creek, while the back nine has broad fairways in a meadow-like setting.

Throughout the course, front and back, are spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. At an elevation of 1220m/4000ft, the highest for an 18-hole course in BC, the ball tends to fly long. Sun Peaks Golf Course is opened from early-May to early-October.
Front Nine
Sun Peaks' front nine is a thinking person's game with course management a must. The par-4 opening hole, with a 165m/180yd layup narrowly opening to the green between trees and in front of a hidden creek, provides a preview of what to expect from the front nine. Because of the slope, the ball runs farther, necessitating at least one-club less off the tee.
Back Nine
At the 10th tee box, the entire course opens up and for the first time course management is not as vital to a good score. The par-5 finishing hole offers even a medium length drive the chance to reach it in two shots because the slope forwards the green on the second shot.
Amenities
Sun Peaks' driving range makes use of the ski run at the foot of the Sunburst chair: Flags are placed at pitching wedge, seven iron, five wood, and driver lengths. Golf carts are included in the green fee, and golf club rentals are available from the well-stocked clubhouse.
