Whale Watching
Sightseers whale watching (Canadian Tourism Commission photo)
Depart from Sooke on a whale-watching and sightseeing tour of the waters of southern Vancouver Island and the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
Both transient and resident Orcas (killer whales) frequent these waters, and the nearby Race Rocks Ecological Reserve provides a fascinating backdrop for marine wildlife tours.
Whale Watching & Harbour Tours
Russ Nicks' Sooke Coastal Explorations (operating from the Sooke Harbour Hotel & Marina) offers regularly scheduled, three-hour whale-watching tours, as well as two-hour eco-wildlife tours, and scenic outings around Sooke Harbour (best seen under the light of a full moon) in his 12-person, high-speed Zodiac. Sightings in local waters may include Orcas (killer whales), grey whales, humpback whales, minke whales, harbour seals and both California and Steller sea lions.
Stop by the Sooke Visitor Centre for more information about whale watching and wildlife tours in Sooke.
