Dining
Smithers has everything from high-end dining to fast food outlets. Selection is limited but the options available are excellent.
Smithers' 30 or so restaurants and cafés are comprised of fast-food joints, lounge restaurants, a Bavarian-style bistro to match the town's theme, casual diners and pizza places. Ethnic options, which can be hard to find in Northwest BC, include Chinese, Greek, Mexican and Japanese.
Cafés and Bakeries
Several independent and locally owned coffeehouses, bakeries and even a used bookstore and internet café also offer sweet and savoury items such as small meals, baked goods, and tea and coffee. These are great places to experience the mellow, but positive energy of everyday life in Smithers.

Many of the eateries also feature great artwork including local First Nations carvings and masks. Others have interesting history. The Dutch owner of Paul's Bakery, for instance, started the business in Holland and resumed it in Smithers when he moved there. Three generations later, the bakery is still in the family and still sells Dutch treats.
Where to Eat in or Near Smithers
Most of the town's dining options are in the downtown core, along or around Main Street. Others lodges and the Smithers Golf & Country Club are located farther from town and also have restaurants which are open to the public. Smithers' fast food outlets are mainly located along Highway 16.
Most of Smithers' restaurants close before midnight if not much earlier. The ones open later sometimes host local musicians.
Dining Options in Telkwa
The small community of Telkwa, a 10-minute drive east of Smithers along Highway 16, also has one pub that serves bar food. It stays open until at least midnight every night.
The Old Ranger Station Gift & Gallery Shop also sells homemade baked goods and hot drinks during the day. Visitors can enjoy their snacks while viewing local artwork in the well-lit and open gallery. The Ranger Station, an old white building with green trim, is halfway through Telkwa on the riverside of the road.
A list of dining options called A guide to dining in Smithers & Telkwa is available at the Smithers Visitor Centre.
